The House

Veuve Clesse

Royal Wines is very proud indeed to be the sole representative of Champagne Veuve Clesse in the Netherlands.

From this unique Champagne brand we offer the Champagne Extra Brut and the pink Champagne Rosé Brut.

Champagne Veuve Clesse is a niche brand providing limited editions of specific champagnes currently produced by the 4th and 5th
generation of a well-established family of Champagne producers in and around Villers sur Châtillon.

In an extraordinary sequence of events, the champagne business of this particular house was saved, maintained and enlarged thanks to the indefatigable efforts and commitment of 3 subsequent generations of widows, who all lost their husbands too soon and who dedicated their lives to both their children and the champagne.

By selling and promoting Champagne Veuve Clesse, Royal Wines is paying tribute to these exceptional women who were perhaps not crowned heads, as you might expect from us, but who certainly were what the French call femmes de tête: formidable women. And the case of the various generations of Veuve Clesse is not an isolated one: please check the History of Champagne section for the enormous impact the 19th century Veuve Clicquot had on the development of Champagne.
